Thurlow Man mythologises the origins of contemporary digital media, tracing it to an imagined point in pre-history. It explores the intersection between the lineage of ideas and the forms of media created to convey them from the ancient to the contemporary.
The narrative film sees an ancient oracle, who’s induced visions are the seeds of our contemporary digital world. Thurlow Man is a multi-dimensional Bronze-age oracle whose substance enhanced visions depict a silhouette of our contemporary digital society. In his altered state he undertakes ritualised acts and renders in clay proto-type artefacts from our contemporary world while reciting tales of its unfathomable culture.
This work is a precursor to Slumpy Glump Dreams.
